5 Tech Trends Shaping Public Sector IT  

Public sector technology priorities are always shifting. Here’s what the numbers tell us about tech trends as we head towards the last quarter 2025; Mobility, resilience, security, and visual collaboration are leading the trends. 

 

  1. Mobility is King 

Notebooks represent the single-largest category % of total tech spend so far in 2025 by our public sector customers, more than all desktops and servers combined. Mobility is the new standard. This reflects the realities of hybrid work, field inspections, and on-the-go education support.  

  1. Resilience is Non-Negotiable 

UPS & Power Devices make up over 10% of customer IT equipment spending with us, highlighting a growing commitment to operational continuity. Whether it’s protecting data centers or ensuring classroom uptime, backup power is part of the baseline infrastructure.  

  1. Software is Getting Specialized 

While Software accounts for nearly 15% of total purchases by our public sector customers, the majority of that is concentrated in niche, application-specific tools.
